Mr Philippe’s remarks come after the number of small boat migrants who crossed the Channel since Andy Burnham became Prime Minister breached the 10,000 mark over the weekend.
Mr Burnham, who replaced Sir Keir Starmer in No10 on July 20, saw his tally surge by 1,610 in just four days last week after more than a fortnight of no new arrivals.
The People’s Channel revealed 480 migrants arrived on British shores on Sunday, with 259 crossing on Saturday and 671 making the trip on Friday.
A Home Office spokesman recently told GB News: โWe have made progress tackling the small boats.
“Crossings are down significantly, and we have just recorded the lowest number of summer arrivals since 2020.
โJoint efforts with international partners have prevented over 50,000 crossing attempts and seized 1,100 boats and engines since the election.
โBut we must go further. That’s why we are boosting the number of officers on the ground in France and removing the pull factors drawing people here through illegal and dangerous routes.โ
