Sarah Ferguson is said to be on the verge of landing a lucrative autobiography deal worth seven figures with American publishing houses.
The 66-year-old former Duchess of York is just “days away” from finalising an agreement, publishing industry sources have told The Sun.
Insiders told the outlet she is “on a mission” to restore her standing with the British public.
One source stated: “Sarah wants to set the record straight about everything and earn some money to resolve her financial issues.”
Multiple US publishers have reportedly submitted bids for the memoir.
The proposed book could tackle some of the most sensitive subjects surrounding the Royal Family, including Ms Ferguson’s connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which have dogged her for years.
Her former husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested on his 66th birthday in February on accusations of misconduct in a public office, could feature prominently. He denies any wrongdoing and remains under police investigation over his ties to Epstein.

The book may also address King Charles’s decision last October to strip Ms Ferguson of her duchess title as the Epstein-related allegations intensified.
One insider told the newspaper that a “secret bidding war” has erupted, and a deal is “close to being secured”.

It even resulted in a rare yet fiery response from Buckingham Palace, who said that “pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory”.
Another exposing memoir could, therefore, prove damaging to the family.
Ms Ferguson’s recent years have been marked by upheaval. She was removed, with her ex-husband, from Royal Lodge in Windsor back in February, the same month that six companies connected to her were reportedly being wound down.

Ms Ferguson subsequently spent the summer overseas, including an upmarket Austrian ski resort and in former boyfriend Paddy McNally’s £15million Swiss chalet.
Last month, though, it was reported that the former duchess was to return to the UK following her seven-month exile, planning to settle into a six-bedroom gated property in the Home Counties at a cost of £10,000 per month.
Should the book go ahead, it would not be Ms Ferguson’s first foray into memoir writing, having previously published autobiographies in 1996 and 2011.
She is also the author of the Budgie the Little Helicopter children’s books.
