Harvard University is on high alert after a bomb threat as students were issued a notice to “shelter in”.
The Police Department responded to a bomb threat at Memorial Hall Monday morning.
The University sent an emergency alert around 8:45am local time, instructing students near Memorial Hall to shelter in place and telling others to avoid the area until further notice.
The alert read: โFOLLOW instructions from law enforcement on scene. WAIT for further instructions from university officials.”
A shuttle service near the building was halted and students were told to avoid the route, according to two students on board.
The police department lifted the shelter-in-place order at around 9.20am local time.
Memorial Hall, where Sanders Theatre is located, is one of Harvardโs largest lecture halls.
It is next to Annenberg Hall, the college’s first-year dining hall.

The building is centrally located between Harvard Yard and Zimmer Hall.
The University itself was founded in 1636 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
