Residents of the Falkland Islands have told GB News they are determined to stay British in spite of “whatever Argentina has to throw at them”.

Reflecting on his time on the Islands, GB News Home and Security Editor Mark White said: “The islands are so incredibly beautiful. That’s what we’ve been privy to over recent days, where we’ve seen some of nature’s most incredible sights up close.

“It is an incredible sight nonetheless to see these penguins in their natural habitat, and this is something that actually attracts many thousands of people, more than 60,000 a year, which, when you consider how remote these islands are.

“That is an incredible feat that the Falklands Islanders have been able to pull off, and the number of tourists is growing all the time because the cruise ships are coming in with thousands of tourists who want to see what we have been privy to during our visit as well.

“They’re self-sufficient in terms of their economy. We could only dream of that in the UK. Here they are.

“Whatever Argentina has to throw at them, well, they suck it up, they deal with it and it just makes them all the more determined to stay very British.”
