“Pac didn’t get a chance to have any kids. Pac didn’t see his nieces and nephews grow up. And Pac didn’t have a child. All he got was a death sentence,” he said.
Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.
The case had been cold for almost three decades before the 63-year-old’s arrest in 2023.
The fatal shooting was sparked by a violent confrontation earlier that evening inside the MGM Grand casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Shakur and his entourage had beaten Davis’s nephew, igniting fury between two rival Los Angeles street gangs – the South Side Compton Crips, led by Davis, and Mob Piru, which had ties to Shakur, Marion “Suge” Knight, and their Death Row Records label.
Both groups had been in the city for the Mike Tyson versus Bruce Seldon heavyweight title bout.
Hours after the brawl, Davis gathered his nephew and two associates into a white Cadillac and set out to find Shakur and Knight. When they pulled alongside Knight’s SUV in traffic, Davis handed a firearm to the back seat passengers, and one of them opened fire.
