GB News presenter Camilla Tominey challenged a Labour MP’s admission the British public will not be informed about Chancellor John Healey’s route to meeting his party’s defence spending target until the next spending review, which is not until Autumn 2027.
Former Royal Marine Alex Ballinger defended Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s approach to funding the military, saying there are already improvements, yet stressed: “He will meet the Nato commitment (to invest 5 per cent of GDP annually on defence by 2035), but we won’t know the route to that until the Spending Review.”
Camilla responded furiously to the Labour backbencher, saying: “It’s too little, too late!”
He also contradicted Foreign Affairs Select Committee chairman and Labour MP Emily Thornberry’s suggestion Britain could rejoin the European Union without another referendum.
The former minister told the People’s Channel: “If that hypothetical scenario were to happen, then we would need another referendum.”
