A Hampshire farm has smashed its own Guinness World Record by constructing an enormous pumpkin portrait of Sir David Attenborough.
Sunnyfields Farm in Totton created the mosaic – made entirely of the ribbed, orange winter squash – to celebrate the national treasure’s 100th birthday.
The team assembled more than 10,000 pumpkins and squashes into the striking mosaic, which spans 218.19 square metres.
Pravin Patel, a senior adjudicator for Guinness World Records, officially verified the achievement at an unveiling ceremony on Tuesday.
The artwork surpasses the farm’s previous best of 212 square metres, which was established in 2025 with a depiction of the late Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne.
Sunnyfields first earned a place in the record books back in 2023 for producing the world’s largest mosaic fashioned from squashes, and the annual display has since become one of the farm’s most anticipated traditions.
Thomas Nelson, the farm’s director, explained that the tradition began modestly when his father started arranging pumpkins on a pyramid structure almost a decade ago.
He told the BBC: “I thought it was a daft idea, and people seemed to like it. Now we have to do it every year.”

The Nelson family founded Sunnyfields Farm in 1990, and the pumpkin pyramid display has been a fixture for the past ten years.
Last year’s Ozzy tribute also required upwards of 10,000 pumpkins and squashes to complete, setting the benchmark that the Attenborough mosaic has now eclipsed by just over six square metres.
Now, each successive year the team look to create artwork based on a relevant figure or topic.
Artist Andrew Bega, who was responsible for designing the portrait, described the process of settling on the right image as a considerable challenge.

He said: “We went through a process of selecting different images of David and eventually landed on this.
“We had to go through a few to find the best that was going to be easiest to simplify but keep most of the features so we could recognise that it is Sir David, and I think we did a good job.”
Mr Nelson admitted that despite the farm’s unbroken track record of successful mosaics, nerves remain a constant feature each year.
“We’re always just really nervous about how it’s going to turn out. So far we haven’t messed one up, and we’re very pleased with this year’s,” he said.

Sunnyfields turned to social media in August to let the public decide who should feature in this year’s creation, and Sir David swiftly proved the overwhelming choice.
The unveiling of the mosaic also signals the launch of the farm’s Pumpkin Time event, which welcomes visitors from October 4 to 31
Over the past decade, the annual spectacle has garnered national headlines.
The team first entered the record books in 2023 for the largest mosaic created from squashes.
