A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “Road closures remain in place this morning in the Buxton and Whaley Bridge area following the discovery of potentially hazardous chemicals related to photography.”

The force added: “There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the substances, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.”

Military personnel are currently extracting the materials from the Manchester Road property in preparation for their destruction.

The disposal operation will take place through a controlled blast.
