Lady Louise Windsor supported by boyfriend at event as she starts gap year following graduation

Lady Louise Windsor was supported by her boyfriend over the weekend as she began her gap year following her graduation from university.

The King’s niece, 22, looked in fine form as she participated in the National British Carriage Driving Championships at Ashfields in Essex on Saturday.

Lady Louise, who sits 16th in the line of succession, tackled the cross-country marathon course driving Balmoral Bertie, one of the late Duke of Edinburgh’s former ponies.

Sporting a red and blue helmet paired with beige jodhpurs, she showcased considerable ability in the discipline – as has become intrinsically linked with the Royal Family.

Her long-term partner, Felix da Silva-Clamp, watched proudly from the sidelines throughout the competition.

He was dressed in brown trousers and a blue shirt, completed with a Royal Windsor Horse Show baseball cap – an event where Louise held an official role this year.

The eldest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh first developed her love of carriage driving through her grandfather, Prince Philip, and has been competing in events for the past five years.

She now takes part in competitions on a regular basis, carrying forward a tradition that the late duke embraced for decades.

Her partner Felix has often shown his support for her from the sidelines.

Last month, he joined Lady Louise at the Glebe Estate Carriage Driving Trials in West Sussex, where they were seen wearing matching Royal Windsor Horse Show caps as they enjoyed the rest of the day together.

The couple also attended a performance of Inala in Edinburgh alongside her parents.

Lady Louise completed her four-year English degree alongside Felix at the University of St Andrews in July, with her proud parents, Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward, joining her for graduation photographs.

The monarchy’s official social media channels marked the occasion with a congratulatory message: “Congratulations to Lady Louise on her graduation from St Andrews University!

“Lady Louise was joined by her parents, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, as they celebrated the end of her degree.”

The day after graduating, she collected her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from Prince Edward at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, with Felix by her side.

The couple are thought to have met a couple of years ago through the university’s drama society.

Lady Louise is now understood to be spending her gap year in a mix of work, volunteering, and travel.

She has largely stayed out of the spotlight over the summer months, though she was seen at the family’s annual Balmoral gathering with her younger brother, James, Earl of Wessex.
