Benjamin Netanyahu could come face-to-face with a hung parliament, according to current exit polls.
The forecast says the veteran Prime Minister is set to remain the leader of the largest party in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, with 24 seats.
Yashar, the opposition party which is led by Gadi Eisenkot, is forecast to finish the night with 22 seats.
However, it appears the Prime Minister’s current governing coalition and Mr Eisenkot’s bloc will both fail to secure a majority.
Current polls indicate Mr Eisenkot’s group will secure the largest number of seats, while Mr Netanyahu is just several seats behind.
However, the Israeli parliament requires a party to win 61 seats for a Knesset majority – which both groups fail to achieve.
