In today’s GB News Daily Reflection, we ask – where can true happiness and contentment be found?
“According to Jesus, it is not found in the places we think it can be found in a section known as the Beatitudes in Matthew’s Gospel. Jesus gave us the secrets to true happiness and spiritual prosperity.
“He said, blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed means happy. Happy is an odd word to have alongside mourning within the context of Jesus’s message.
“Jesus means that those who experience a deep grief are the state of their moral failings and spiritual poverty of ever being good enough for God are the happy ones, not because they are happy about their grief or failings, but because in their grief, God, God comforts them.
“Why? Because God draws close to those who are honest about their own sin and are humble enough to seek his mercy. God comes to the contrite in heart to comfort them with forgiveness and healing in Jesus.
“So we don’t need to linger in guilt and shame. We don’t need to pretend all is well and we don’t need to fear God abandoning us. He draws close to the brokenhearted and becomes their foundation of true happiness.”
