The Canary been passed screen shots and audio clips of far-right messages from someone called Sheron Stott calling for Muslim’s to be “unalived” and mosques to be “bombed”.
Meet Sheron Stott
One message appears to call for a race war-style mass riot to avenge those killed in the 2017 Manchester Bombings. In a bizarre twist, some of the hate-ranting audio features a shrieking cockatiel.
In one screen shot, fascist activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (Tommy Robinson) appears to say says he will “look into” claims that one of his far-right allies has been caught ranting about mass murder.
The array of screen shots and videos are a little garbled. In one, Robinson seems to be responding to a Twitter direct message about another far-right activist named Sheron Stott, who is reportedly from Bolton. The post says she’s been caught making threat very similar to those in the audio clips.
Big, strapping lads
Sheron Stott may or may not be the woman whose voice can be heard in a series of voice notes ranting about gathering “strapping” military-age men to carry out some form of violent pogrom.
The woman, who has a strong north-west accent, can also be heard talking about bombing and raiding mosques. The individual in the clips also talks about gathering hundred of military age far-right men. In the background of some messages, a bird can be heard shrieking.
It is not clear if the bird agrees or disagrees with the strategies being proposed.
Angry Birds?
The murderous rants seem to be connected to an Instagram account called ‘smokey’ (@saywhatyoulike). The leaked chats are called the Smokey Files.
In one, titled ‘The Smokey Files Part 2’, the same woman tries to rally people, telling them to stop being “defeatist” and start the civil war. In the background, what sounds like a pet bird repeatedly squawks:
Stop being defeatist for god sake, we’re not an Islamic State, we never will be, we’ll rise up… [LOUD BIRD SHRIEK]
She continues:
Where’s the men, come on get out there and get civil war started coz that’s what it’s going to take. Let’s start civil war, let us start going and unaliving in thousands, they can’t arrest somebody then, because they don’t know who the fuck killed who.
And then:
Go and arrest the fucking lot of em, uh, kill the lot of em. What can they do? fuck all. Stop giving up. We’re not giving up on our country. Stop giving up, we don’t give up in this country.
The political orientation of the bird is not known at this time.
Sheron Stott wanting ‘military-aged men’
In one voice-note, named ‘The Smokey Files” and apparently published on TikTok, a woman says:
Look at how many people turned up at that march. Because there were more men than women. Take all the women out of that and look at the men that was there: young, healthy, strong, strapping lads that want’s to stop all this shit, do you think it would be hard to get a thousand of people together, never mind 100,000 like there were…
The speaker moves on to talk about bombing mosques, apparently as revenge for the 2017 Manchester Bombings which took place at an Arianna Grande concert:
And a thousand people turn up at a mosque in their own area, a thousand in each area, they don’t stand a cat in hell’s chance, they’ll have to retreat, they need to be un-alived in mosques. they weren’t bothered about killing all them children and that were they, at the Arianna Grande concert. So I reckon that we throw a bomb in the mosque.
Murder, uh, fines?
In ‘the Smokey Files, Part 3’, the same voice urges everyone to stick together. Bizarrely, she seems to think that the sentence for murdering Muslims has now been reduced to a fine:
Well, let’s put it this way, if everybody sticks together, and everybody is out there, they can’t do frig all. And they’re on about now saying that it’s stupid putting them in jail, just give em a fine instead.
Well I’m quite happy paying [a] fine, as long as I’ve took a few out with me.
Not weird at all, mate.
‘The Smokey Files Part 4’ seems to be the same individual saying she doesn’t go somewhere because she doesn’t like someone there. It’s very unclear what she means but she does mention someone called “Rez”.
And the screenshots we have seen also mention someone called Rez Khan.
The voice says:
Can’t stand Rez, hate the woman, I’d kill her before looking at her…
Hope you’re okay, hun…
Absolute whoppers
It isn’t entirely clear what kind of bird was involved. The Canary’s In-House Bird Whisperer, who asked not to be named, told us: “My best guess would be a cockatiel”.
We’ll continue to ask the hard questions. But as something of a bird ourselves, we’d like to also suggest the far-right stop being absolute fucking whoppers.
