A British woman has drowned in the Bahamas after trying to save her two children who were swept out to sea.
The 36-year-old mother was on a snorkelling expedition with her husband and sons.
Her two children were suddenly swept out to sea during their trip to the tourist hotspot Bimini.
She attempted to rescue them, but was swept away by the current.
She was pulled from the water onto a dock as witnesses attempted to resuscitate her.
Officers responded to the scene and rushed her to hospital.
The mother-of-two was declared dead shortly after 10am on Wednesday.
Linty Stuart, a water taxi captain who witnessed the incident, told local media he saw the two boys and their mum in the water and attempted to rescue them.

He safely recovered the two boys, but as he attempted to rescue the mum, a “big wave” at least seven feet tall rocked the boat, he said.
He told Bahamian outlet ZNS: “It happened, really, really fast. I’m still in shock too.”
The first mate of L&A Water Taxi, Jason Saunders, said he attempted CPR on her chest and stomach.
He said. “It’s scary. We tried. I don’t know. It’s sad.”

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with the family of a British woman who has died in the Bahamas.
“We are in contact with the local authorities and providing support to her family.”
A spokesman for the Royal Bahamas Police Force said: “On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, police on the island of Bimini launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 36-year-old British woman.
“According to the preliminary report, shortly after 10am, officers at the Alice Town Police Station received information that a female was unresponsive at the North Bimini Ferry Dock.
“Preliminary information indicates that the deceased was snorkelling with her husband and two sons near the southern point of the island when a strong current reportedly swept both children away.
“In an attempt to rescue her sons, the woman was also swept away.
“Foul play is not suspect at this time. An autopsy will be conducted to assist in determining the exact cause of death.”
