New £12m holiday park could open on historic Scottish estate

The Dalquharran Estate is situated near the tiny South Ayrshire village of Dailly and is currently used for agriculture.

It spans 261 acres and also has two historical castles situated in the grounds.

But the plans would see it turned into a site with 95 holiday lodges, with new landscaping and pathways.

Each holiday lodge would also come with its own parking space, and would be available to rent or privately own.

The whole new site is expected to cost around £11.9m if approved.

Planning documents state: “This proposal is for the development of holiday lodges, aimed at delivering a sustainable tourism offering that complements Dalquharran Estate.

“An area that features two ruined historic castles and a well-used network of walking paths created by the applicant.”

It adds: “The proposal makes best use of the area’s built and natural assets whilst supporting the local economy and helping diversify a local established family business.

“Maximising net economic impact and associated business, tourist and supply chain opportunities.”
