The top Israeli politician is believed to be staying in the Intercontinental Park Lane in central London.

A demonstration was called outside the hotel on Tuesday night and it has been reported that Herzog was in the building but keeping a low profile.

Former diplomat Craig Murray said that he had set up at the bar “disguised as an elderly Scottish drunk”.

In a blog published on Wednesday, he wrote: “It also allowed me to wander around the basement areas as a well spoken elderly Scottish gentleman, slightly befuddled and looking for the toilet.

“Finding no end of lurking policemen – who were all very helpful – I was able to confirm this was indeed where Herzog was staying and a demonstration was whistled up.”

A video posted to Twitter/X by Al-Jarmaq News showed protesters loudly chanting outside the hotel before being herded away by police officers.

One was filmed saying: “Section 14 conditions, you need to move to the Hyde Park roundabout.”

Another policeman added: “If you do not you can be arrested.”

Details of Herzog’s visit are being kept tightly under wraps. Downing Street previously informed journalists of the Israeli president’s meeting with Keir Starmer in London on the condition that it was not to be reported but relented on Tuesday evening with a public statement after information leaked.

Herzog has been pictured signing bombs to be dropped on Gaza, as part of Israel’s genocidal campaign in the territory which has killed more than more than 64,000 people.

Comments he made in videos posted by official Israeli government social media outlets showed him saying “there are no innocent civilians” in Gaza, a claim which has since been cited as proof of the country’s genocidal intent in the case against it at the International Court of Justice.

Protesters are expected to assemble outside Chatham House in central London on Friday at 5pm and then move to Downing Street for 7pm.

The Metropolitan Police was approached for comment.
